The launch for the 2019 Dualla Show took place on Friday morning 9th August last at Ballyowen House. Young and old turned up to Tea and coffee was provided by the Maher family.

Our chairman Ray Hunt thanked everyone for coming to support and help, highlighting the importance of events like Dualla Show in bringing communities together. He also sincerely thanked the many sponsors who without their strong support an event of this magnitude would not happen.

This year the show takes place on Sunday 25th August and is expected to attract the usual thousands from far and wide with its incredible mixture of agricultural events, horses, machinery, food, live music and free children’s entertainment!

Brand new this year is an all-star line-up of stellar country music acts comprised of Trudi Lalor, Mick Flavin, John McNichol, Gerry Guthrie and Declan Nerney.

The livestock event will host the All-Ireland Aberdeen-Angus championship and is expected to attract over 100 Angus cattle from the four corners of the country. This is the first time we’ve had an All Ireland Final. Other classes of interest will be the Hereford Prime Carcass Bull of the Year and the popular Best Pair in Show with a prize fund of €500.

For equestrian fans we are proud to host the Connolly Red Mills Munster Grand Prix competition in addition to the normal smattering of SJI classes.

An affordable family day out is part of the Dualla Show ethos and our free children’s entertainment is back and better than ever, consisting of a secure and supervised play area with TEN completely free inflatable castles, slides and obstacle courses including the 100ft “Eliminator”. The free circus is back featuring new acts such as “Marc and Seraina” who will perform on the Wheel of Death while Romanian duo “Aurel and Denisa” will fly high above the circus ring in aerial straps – their first ever time in Ireland. The incredible Spindler Family horses, dogs and goats will also be demonstrating their amazing tricks. The circus will perform FOUR one-hour shows at 1pm, 2.15pm, 4pm and 5.30pm with a special ticket office of its own to ensure everyone gets an opportunity to experience a slot.

The Tipperary Truck Show is also back this year and looking to break all records. Last year this event saw 520 trucks make their way to Dualla from both Ireland and the UK and has become one of the highlights of the trucker annual calendar.

Elsewhere the stalwarts of the Irish Tractor Pulling Committee are also returning and are guaranteed to provide a fantastic display of horsepower with round 4 of the ITPC championship. As usual the farm classes are open to everyone so if you’ve got a tractor and wish to enter just bring it along early in order to get registered. Pulling starts at 11.30am.

This year’s “Live at the Marquee” event will have something for all ages with talks and demos throughout the day on cookery, gardening and flower arranging. Multi award-winning parenting and food blogger “One Yummy Mummy” Jolene Cox will be sharing her passion for making easy, healthy, tasty recipes for the whole family. Jolene has a best-selling cookbook “Family Food Made Easy” and writes for the Irish times and Easy Parenting magazine.  Her first demonstration starts at 12.30pm with lunch box ideas featuring pizza pins (with cheese and pepperoni). She’ll also be showing some great examples of after school light bites, main meals (carbonara) and sweet treats (chocolate muffins).

Also in the marquee this year is Tipp FM regular Ultan Nesbitt who will be giving gardening tips on late summer flower baskets, roses, fruit bushes and herb gardens.

John Smullen of Moyglass Kennels is back again with another great selection of dog classes including Junior Handler of the Year and Best Puppy of the Year. The winner of the new Junior Handler of the Year trophy will be chosen from the winners of the Best Boy Handler and Best Girl Handler classes (both under 14 years of age). The Best Puppy of the Year class will look for the best puppy from across all the other classes and in particular pay attention to gait, balance and attitude – an almost impossible task given the high quality seen every year.

As usual there will be a vintage display of cars and tractors, trade stands, artisan food stands, O’Neills Sportswear shop and Tipperary Emergency Services. And if that wasn’t enough free family entertainment, we also welcome back the superstars of Wrestling.IE who bring their WWE-style antics to Dualla for some entertaining family-friendly fun that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone.
