Cattle Results 2015

Our biggest cattle entry to date with almost 150 cattle catalogued between each of the breeds.

Goldstar Elle continued her dominance of the summer show circuit for the Ryan Family, Copperfield House, Cabra, Thurles in the Charolais section. This five-year-old senior show cow had won a plethora of rosettes before Dualla having including the overall supreme championship at Tullamore Show and the supreme inter-breed beef championship at Tullow Show. In addition to clinching the overall Charolais championship at Dualla, she was also successful in securing the inter-breed breeding female championship, which was open to all females from each of the major beef breeds.

In the Limousin section, the championship went to the winner of the cow class, Ardlea Forever Free, exhibited by Dan Tynan, Mountrath, Co Laois. This young cow was tapped forward as overall Limousin champion by judge Michael Pat Murphy, Ballydehob, Co Cork, and was shown with a young heifer calf at foot.

Garret Behan, Ballyfin, Portlaoise, Co Laois, claimed a double win in the Simmental section, taking both the champion and reserve prizes. The champion rosette went to the senior show heifer Clonagh Dora the Explorer, sired by the famed multiple national champion bull Banwy T-Rex. The reserve championship went to the 2015-born young heifer calf Clonagh Golden Eyes, a daughter of the successful show cow Clonagh Darling Eyes.

The Belgian Blue championship went to David Pearson, Ballacolla, Co Laois, with the senior show heifer Boherard Hanky Panky. This 23-month-old heifer has put together a string of wins for the Pearson Family in 2015. She is sired by Kilowatt and is a daughter of the former show cow Boherard Dazzler.

Matthew Goulding, Ballyduff, Tralee, Co Kerry, took championship honours in the Aberdeen Angus section with the January 2015-born bull calf Goulding Macbeth. This quality young calf was also breed champion at Cappamore Show and is sired by herd stock bull Abberton Enimen. The reserve championship went to local exhibitor Edward Dudley, Kilsunny House, Dovea, Thurles, Co Tipperary, with the yearling heifer calf Castlelough Miss Bea P142.

Matthew Goulding also claimed the supreme championship in the Hereford section with senior heifer Gouldingpoll 1 Duchess 591. This September 2013-born heifer was crowned overall female champion at the National Hereford Show, Tullamore, a few weeks ago. The Goulding Family also took the reserve champion with the stylish young heifer calf Gouldingpoll 1 Lucy 641 to round off a very successful first outing to Dualla Show.

The overall supreme Shorthorn champion title went to Con Condon, Emly, Co Tipperary, with the February 2015-born bull calf Cloughready Charlie. The Cloughready Shorthorn herd also took the reserve championship with the yearling heifer Cloughready Tara 9.

In the dairy section, Eamonn McLoughney, Ballythomas, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, took the overall dairy championship with the autumn yearling heifer calf Ballythomas Seisme Red, sired by the noted AI bull Wisconsin Red. First-time exhibitor Tom Julian, Garranmore, Cashel, Co Tipperary, took the reserve championship with a young summer 2015-born heifer calf.

Finally, in the commercial section, Andrew and Catherine McCarthy, Mullagh, Co Clare, won the overall supreme commercial championship with the senior Limousin cross heifer Rosie.
